The world is a crazy place at the moment, isn’t it? Everyone is in lockdown because of this coronavirus and we’re all going a little stir crazy, aren’t we? Just me?

Despite all the bad stuff that’s going on right now, I know some good will come from this. With fewer people being out and about, the environment is healing, and people are taking the time during their time at home to slow down, rest and spend time with their families. Yes, there are awful awful things going on, and you can’t forget about that, but focussing on the good things when you’re feeling stressed and anxious is good for your mental health.

I’m still working and G is working from home. My daughter is in Saudi Arabia with her dad. She was supposed to fly home a week ago but all their flights have been canceled. Which really sucks because I miss her, but I know she’s having a great time with her dad and brothers.

So, while I have some work to do, I’m slowing down. Making the most of the time I have to rest. By doing this, I can already feel my creativity coming back to me. I got so burned out at the end of last year that this time to myself, staying home and resting is doing wonders.

The community spirit I’m seeing too is phenomenal. I’ve never really spoken to my neighbours before and now we have our own little facebook group where we all offer to pick up shopping for anyone who can’t get out. We’re even planning a street party for when all this is over… which I really can’t wait for.

One of the creative things I’ve been into lately is video making. I probably wont film too many videos like this… I mean, how many ways can I possibly film myself making coffee and washing my hands. But learning and improving on new skills and having the chance to be creative for my own pleasure without the pressure of having to please anyone else is kind of liberating. I may try some more stop motion videos, some painting, maybe even a photography project. Who knows?

How are you spending your time in lockdown?
