Frequently Asked Questions

What if I only need a logo and nothing else?

No job is too small. Get in touch to discuss your needs and your budget and I’ll be happy to give you a quote.

How long does a job usually take?

It all depends on the job. Some are more straightforward than others. I usually quote anything between 8 to 12 weeks for a big project like a full brand and web build but I have been known to get things finished sooner than that. If you have a deadline you’d like to stick to then discuss that with me and we can work together to get things finished within a reasonable timeframe.

Do I need to do anything once I've hired you?

Yes, of course. While I may be doing the hard work, I still need your input on things. I may not know you very well so will need you to write any text that’s needed on the site (I’m happy to copy write and fix any mistakes if you’re no JK Rowling) Each project requires input from both sides to run smoothly so I will be emailing you a few times a week to make sure things go well. I do expect prompt replies (don’t worry if you can’t reply within a day or so… I mean don’t leave it weeks to get back to me) as this can delay deadlines which nobody likes missing.

I like to split big jobs into smaller chunks and will need you to give me the “OK” when I’ve completed each task to make sure we’re both on the same page and heading in the right direction. Then I can move onto the next job, so communication is very important to keep things running smoothly. I’m not a huge fan of skype or even phone calls (typical INFP) but I’ll make an exception if we need to.

Do you require paying upfront?

It’s entirely up to you. Whatever suits you and your budget. I do, however, require a deposit upon booking. If you can’t afford to pay everything upfront, I can split the job into sections for you so you can pay as we go along. Just get in touch to discuss this with me.

Can I pay in instalments?

Of course. I do require and outstanding bills to be settled within 28 days of completion but we can discuss payment plans with  to make things easier if necessary.

I have no photos for my site, can you provide some?

I sure can. It all depends on what you’re looking for. I can provide you with ten stock photos for £50. That should be plenty. If you’re looking for some photos of yourself and your business though, I am a photographer with five years experience so would be happy to take some photos for you. A full shoot with about 20 photos starts from £150. If you require studio hire and make up artists too they can be arranged for an extra charge. We can discuss your needs to get the best images to represent you and your business.

Do you have a contract?

Oh yes! These days they’re a necessity to cover everyones backs. You get one as soon as you’re booked and your deposit has been paid. Then it’s time to get to work.

Can you set up my hosting for me?

If you’re literally starting from scratch I can advise you on hosting plans and what is best for you. Personally, I love Dreamhost. I’ve been with them for years and they’ve been great for me. While I really like their plans, they might not be right for everyone. So we’ll have a chat and see what your needs are and what you plan to use your website for.

If you’re planning to use your site as an online portfolio with lots of photos and pages I’d recommend you go for an unlimited hosting package as having lots of content can use up bandwidth… which can sometimes lead to extra little surprise charges or downtime for your site.

Do I need to use WordPress?

Yes! I work with Self Hosted WordPress about 95% of the time. I love it. It’s used so widely now that so many big companies even have their sites managed by WordPress.

It’s so good and easy to use, plus with self hosted you are given so much freedom to do what you want.

If you already have a blog on either Blogger or WordPress.com I’d be happy to help you transfer your posts to your new site.
