This time of year, with it being so cold and blustery, our skin is prone to taking a bit of a beating by the elements so it’s important to pamper it once in a while. Not just for the sake of looking after your skin, but sometimes a bit of luxury can really make you feel good on the inside too. With the days getting shorter and darker, those winter blues can very easily pop up. As much as I love this time of year, it can really take it’s toll on us.

At times like this, a bit of luxury and indulgence can work wonders. Thats why, when L’Occitane Provence asked if I wanted to give their new Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Cream and go, I jumped at the chance. Being a huge fan of their products anyway this was a great opportunity for me.

Here’re the sciency bit:

“Formulated with skin-perfecting peony extract and mineral-based optical correctors, this 24h-moisturising cream helps create perfect-looking skin. Suitable for all skin types, it immediately enhances skin’s beauty. The complexion looks fresh, luminous and rested, with an immediate radiance boost. The skin feels smooth, soft and velvety. Pores, fine lines and imperfections look reduced. Your skin glows with a fresh and natural beauty.

L’OCCITANE has extracted from peonies growing in the Drôme Region of France, a perfecting concentrate. Rich in natural plant sugars, this patented extract acts on skin cells to help visibly correct complexion and texture irregularities.”

There are so many things that I love about this product from the offset, firstly it’s pink and made from peony extract (my favourite flower). As a designer, packaging can be something that helps in my buying decisions (Yes, I have bought items based on pretty packaging alone) and this is a beautiful addition to any dressing table.

The contents are just as pleasing. The cream is thick and luxurious with a beautiful peony scent. It’s heaven.

Being in my thirties, I’ve started to take more of an interest in my skin care. I’m quite lucky that I don’t really have a problem with age related issues and look a lot younger than I actually am, but that doesn’t mean that I take things for granted. It gets pretty dry from time to time which can leave my complexion looking a little dull and tired. I’m even still prone to the odd hormonal breakout.

I’ve been using this creme for a couple of weeks now and you can really see a difference. Not only does it feel smoother and softer but the radiance has been put back into my face. I love that it’s given me that “dewey” and rosy look I’ve coveted for so long. It feels more supple and healthier too.

If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas gift for your mum, sister, best friend… or even just fancy treating yourself, I would totally recommend this. It retails for around £32 which may be a bit pricey, but it’s totally worth every penny. A little bit goes a long way, and it lasts for ages. Even after a few weeks I still have quite a bit left. I will definitely be getting more when I run out.

Thanks to L’Occitane Provence for sending me this sample to try out.
