Product design just isn’t something that’s easy to perfect. In fact, a lot of companies spend their entire duration being listed trying to perfect the whole process. Because when talking about product design, we’re not just talking about actually designing the product, we’re talking about the initial drawing board, manufacturing, shipping, and improvements. So you see, it’s a constant battle to streamline the whole process, especially when it comes to making improvements. But we have to admit, product design is probably one of the most interesting parts of running a business where this applies. It takes you away from all of the boring paperwork and financial issues, and whatever else you might be struggling with. It puts you into a zone that allows you to use your brain to better your company, and to use your creativity. To try and streamline this process for you, we’ve got some excellent ways you can improve your product design.

Initial Design

The initial design is something that a lot of people struggle with! To get that creativity flowing is just something that doesn’t come naturally to a lot of people. What this can lead to is a lot of copying in some situations. It’s so easy to see a product from another company, and accidentally pretty much copy the whole thing. It’s something that a lot of people do, and we do get why you might do it. So, when thinking of a new product, you need to go in with a fresh mind, and with fresh ideas that you know you haven’t spotted somewhere else. Something we suggest doing is getting in the help of someone from the outside to help you with this. There are plenty of people who work freelance as a product design influencer, and will happily bring in fresh ideas for a set price. If you know you’ve hit a brick wall, this might be something that’s going to be really beneficial for you.

Product Testing

The next step is actually testing the product for quality and durability. You for one, need to make sure the product is of high quality. The last thing you would want is hundreds of complaints due to poor materials being used compared to other companies. To test it properly, your best bet is to send free prototypes to a hundred or more people. A lot of money we know, but it’ll save you a hell of a lot of money if customers don’t actually like it!

Rolling It Out To The Public

Before you roll it out to the public, there’s one big thing that you need to do, and that’s advertisement. So, first of all, think about making the product look good. One company we know who can do that is Coconut Product Photography. They’ll take professional pictures for you to either use on your marketing campaign, or your website. Then it’s all about using techniques such as TV and social media marketing. It’ll get the message across quickly, and should help to get your sales off to a flying start.

If you ever have to deal with complaints, it’s important to know what ones are the right ones to listen to, and what are coming from picky customers. If you have a collection of complaints that are all regards to the same issue, then you know you’re going to have to do something about it. If it’s one complaint about a minor issue, it’s best it ignore it, but never ignore the customer!
